Literature Text

An artist plays the role of God. He can draw whatever he wants. He can paint whatever he wants. He can sculpt whatever he wants. He is the supreme ruler of his piece of art because he is the one who took the time to make a creation. He took a blank canvas, which represents nothingness, and filled it with an abundance of lively colors, inks, and pastels. He made something from nothing. He shone a bright light into the darkness and told the light to shine brighter with every moment it exists.

If the art was not created by its artist, what purpose does it have? And if so, from where did the art originate? Is it possible for art not to have a purpose, even when it is already known that art’s purpose is to make some kind of statement? Without the creator, does the art retain that statement? What is the art’s intention for the viewer when the creative process never happened?

The only two things in this universe that show beauty are love and passion. An artist who loves art and is eternally passionate about it is ultimately the greatest. An artist who makes wonderful creations out of love and passion is like God, for God made us from these two qualities. Art without a loving and passionate artist has no beauty, makes no statement, and therefore, is not art at all. It would be a random and nameless. It would be unneeded and unwanted. It would be unappreciated, and, most of all, without a purpose. And life with no purpose is not worth living.
These are just some thoughts I have on the role of an artist, his or her similarity to the awesome role of God, and perhaps even what life means in general. Feel free to leave a comment or message me for discussion. =)
